The Journey Before the Journey

How learning, pivots, and intention shaped The Peacock Palette

Before The Peacock Palette became what it is today, it lived in a space of not knowing.

We did not come from entrepreneurial backgrounds. There were no roadmaps or instincts to rely on. What we had instead was curiosity, a shared love for craft and color, and a feeling that we wanted to build something meaningful, even if we could not yet see its shape.

In the beginning, everything felt open. We explored ideas, followed what felt exciting, and allowed ourselves to sit with uncertainty. There was no clear product, only a sense that we were moving toward something that mattered to us.

Along the way, we learned more than we expected. About how production actually works. About what ethical sourcing means in practice. About how slow handmade processes shape timelines and decisions. There were moments when progress felt invisible, and moments when we had to rethink what we thought we knew. Learning became part of the work.

At one point, we were deeply invested in an idea we believed in. We put time and energy into understanding what thoughtful making looks like on the ground. Our Partnerships and Production Liaison, Vashita, spent time with artisans in Rajasthan, observing processes and listening to the realities of craft. That experience changed how we thought about what we were building.

Intial designs

Eventually, it became clear that our first idea was not the one we wanted to carry forward. Letting go of it was not easy. But in that moment, a few things came into focus. We wanted handmade. We wanted to work with small scale artisans and businesses so we could stay intentional. We wanted to work with eco friendly materials and processes. These became the anchors that shaped everything that followed.

Once those values were clear, the direction began to feel steadier. The pace slowed, but the path felt more honest. What we were building started to align with what we cared about most. Craft. Color. Care. Intention.

Midnight calls

This was the part of the journey no one sees. The quiet chapter before anything takes form. The time when learning, unlearning, and choosing differently shape what eventually exists.

The Peacock Palette was formed in this in between space.
And that is what made everything that followed feel true.
